Comme prévu, Francis est venu me rejoindre à l'abri de la baie de Dover. Nous avons pu ainsi effectuer ensemble les réparations sur son gréement et particulièrement sur son génois. Il est ensuite monté en tête de mât pour un contrôle général. La vérification de sa trinquette s'est conclue par un démontage. Il aura ainsi tout le loisir de faire une bonne séance de couture en mer. Changer des pièces sur son pilote automatique et rendre étanche son coffre arrière seront les derniers travaux effectués sur son voilier « Alizés 2 ».
J'ai profité de cet halte pour gratter nos coques pleines d'anatifes (connus aussi sous le nom de bernacles). Ces parasites s'étaient surtout accumulés à l'arrière, de beaux bestiaux de 10 cm de long. La combinaison de 5mm de Francis n'était pas superflue pour aller patauger dans une eau à 13 ºC et aller batailler pour les extraire, c'est que ça tient bien ces « machins » ! On a enfin retrouvé la glisse de nos canotes avec leur coque toute propre.
Un grand merci à Matt du club de voile de Dover pour nous avoir autorisés à utiliser leurs bouées et à Jeremy pour son guidage par vhf. Tous deux nous ont offert aussi leur aide et leur assistance que nous avons déclinées. Nous avons préféré rester autonomes et ne pas descendre à terre. Nous évitons ainsi de compter cet arrêt comme escale.
Cela nous a permis également de laisser passer une grosse dépression, juste de quoi repartir sereins.
La cerise sur le gâteau : faire sauter le bouchon de champagne et fêter la mi-parcours de notre « Longue Route Solidaire » Hummm ... un vrai régal de partager ça ensemble ! Une occasion unique pour refaire le monde ...
