Aujourd'hui, je vais vous parler de mon "Cap Horn". Ce n'est pas le "fameux" que nous allons bientôt franchir dans environ un mois et demi, c'est mon régulateur d'allure qui porte le même nom. Avec Francis, qui en est également équipé, nous l’appelons le "RA" dans nos nombreux échanges par sms sur Iridium Go.
Le Cap Horn fait complètement partie de l'équipage car il prend très souvent la relève pour barrer Chanik. Je l'utilise assez souvent en alternance avec les pilotes automatiques "Laurent", "Raymond" et "Leslie".
Il m'est arrivé une petite mésaventure avec mon Cap Horn : Juste avant d'arriver en Nouvelle Zélande, j'ai perdu la Pale immergée ... elle est allée prendre un bain mais n'est jamais revenue à bord. C'est ballot ! Maintenant, sans elle, ça marche beaucoup moins bien ! J'ai donc profité de mon escale en pays Kiwi pour contacter le constructeur au Canada, Yves Gélinas et son associé Eric Sicotte. Ils ont été très réactifs. Fabriquée en urgence, immédiatement à la suite de mon appel, la pale a été envoyée dans les plus brefs délais à Otago Yacht Club, là où je suis en ce moment. Je viens de la recevoir.
